Somebody please tell me why my coraline is bleaching. I have no idea and it's driving me crazy! My nitrates are up for what reason I have no idea. Everything else in my tank is perfect. My corals are looking better than ever my water is clear. I changed my HQI 150wtt 10k end of Dec. and my actinics about 3 weeks ago. Any ideas why this is happening or what.

First, welcome to ReefChat!

Now a few questions. Do you know your water parameters? In particular the Magnesium. Coraline algae takes up a lot a magnesium. Secon you said you recently changed out your bulbs.  When you started them back up did you use a reduced time period? The new bulbs will have a higher intensity or PAR value. This could be burning the corals or "bleaching" them. You should use a reduced period when replacing the bulbs.  This will give the corals time to acclimate to the light.

FYI - It takes roughly 100 hours for the bulbs to be burned in.

Hope this helps.
