Well, I recently purchased a 40G breeder tank, sump, stand/canopy from a fellow reefer and I've finally had a chance to start working on it.    I'm in the process now of repainting the stand and canopy.  I'll post some pics of it when I'm finished.  I forgot to take some before pics..

I'm going to move all my LPS and zoa's into it. I don't think they like the flow or my lights in the 225. It could be both they don't like, but in any case they're not thriving so I'm going to move them.

I'm almost finished.  I just have to put one more coat of sealer on the inside of the canopy.  I would have preferred a natural wood look with stain, but the setup was already painted and I didn't feel like stripping paint.  So I just did a light sanding and repainted it.  It was black with white trim.  Rhonda decided she wanted blue trim instead.  I did have to make a couple minor repairs and do some extra bracing on the canopy, but it wasn't too difficult.  Here's a quick picture I took before I was told it was time for bed.

Well I got the stand moved inside and a small rug with pond liner put below it to help with small spills since it is on a hardwood floor.  I even got the doors attached, but I have to remove one and touch up a couple spots.  I scuffed it up somehow.  I also got the GFCI installed on the outlet that the tank is going to use.  I'm going to work on cleaning up the tank this week.  I'll post another pic after I get the door fixed

Well the tank is in place.  I do have to resilicone the overflow box though.  I had to cut it out in order to remove the old bulkhead assembly.  I also finished cleaning up the sump, but I had to remove the baffles in it because of leaks.  I'll get replacement baffles and resilicone them in also.  Don't know if you can tell, but Rhonda has been decorating

Well I spent this past Wed night with Glenn building light racks.  We guinea pigged with my rack and finished it.  I'm waiting on the hanging kits and I need to do some wire management when it's installed in the canopy, but here is the completed rack.  Still haven't decided on my final bulb arrangement though.

So are you thinking about one of each type to give the total spectrum?

By arrangement I mean from front to back which order the lights will be in. The last pic shows the spectrum of bulbs I have now.

There are 4 different spectums

Top to Bottom:

UV Super Actinic
Giesmann 11k Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus
GE 6500k

If it looks too white/yellow.. I'll ditch the GE for another 10-12k bulb.

Might try changing the order also, to see if the front is just too blue, or yellow etc..

so you are going T5 instead of MH?  I am debating that right now, what are the reasons you are going T5's?

No, its not a British flag!

Well I have Blue Plus T5s, Actinic VHOs, and 10K 250MH on my 225G SPS reef. I was putting T5s on the 40G cause it's only going to have LPS corals. No need for the intensity of MHs. However, you can do SPS under only T5s especially in a shallow tank, but I like the shimmer lines that you get from the MHs and the extra intensity definitely doesn't hurt when you have SPS.

Welcome to the forums
