I would like to schedule some kind of moderated chat in the #reefchat channel on IRC. Eventually I would like to do this once a month and possibly get some kind of guest speaker. What I would like to know is would you, the members of ReefChat be interested in something like this? What kind of topics would you like to see discussed?

If the topic and/or speaker were really interesting, we might be able to attract enough people to be worthwhile. I think it's an idea that might be worth exploring further.

Yes. Well sorta. There is a way to make it moderated so only the person speaking on the topic can type unless permission is granted. Ash knows more about such things

So you have a speaker, then questions are asked and a moderator posts them?

In a moderated channel, operators see everything that anyone types. However, only those that have been granted 'voice' or operators can be seen by non-opers. So the idea would be that folks type questions, then an oper picks a question.. then reposts the question so that other non-opers can see it, and the speaker responds (he would be granted voice.)
