hello, I have switched but still not sure it is working or not.

    my ip address is mytank.monroviamountain.com
    or
    mytank.dyndns.org
    or currently it is

    76.173.208.240

i have the port forwarding to be 80 for the aquacontroller

Before I could enter the ip address into the address bar and get the dsl modem config page, now I get the router config page. Is that better? IS ther eanyway for me to check to see if the AC III is making it out to the interentet, or do I have to contact somebody to try to enter teh ip address?

You will need to change the password in the sig gen so it matches the one you just changed to.

Sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. Glad to here you have your AC working.
You will setup the webcam the same way you setup your AC but using a different forwarding port. Any port will work, however if you use a port that is used by another application then you will have conflicts. Any port in the range of 49152 through 65535 are considered not registered or for public use. Another option to keep things simple is if port 80 is open for your AC than chances are port 81 (common HTTP ports - 80,81) is also open. I mentioned port 80 might be blocked; the reason is some ISP's block port 25 and 80 to try and force you to buy a "business class" account. However with free services like dyndns and no-ip most are enabling them again. Once you have them both setup you can access them through the internet @ http://76.173.208.240:80 for the AC and http://76.173.208.240:81 for the webcam. From inside your network (house network) you would access both by the IP address that you assigned; for example 192.168.0.2 for the AC and 192.168.0.3 for the webcam. Next to make it more user friendly, you can use dyndns or no-ip to map a name to your ugly IP address. For example i use dnydns so I can enter robsreef.hobby-site.org instead of trying to remember http://65.10.10.25:8080. You can either setup two of these for your devices or create a website and point it to that server. There are a lot of different scenarios that can be setup using these services for free.

hey lv, thanks for the input, no problem on the timing, I been fighting this for months now, so it goes to figure that it happens inthe blink of an eye.

I can not believe that without changing anything, except a dsl modem to a cable modem, and different isp, that everything works. How is it taht I can spend 20+ hours onthe phone with tech support and they can nto figure it out. How is it they refuse to send someone to my house to check, even after I offer to pay if the problem is on my side of the modem...

    Unbelievable, but oh well.

The next quandry is why is cable tv and internet the same price as dish network, earthlink isp, and a verizon land line....

Both are a hundred bucks a month...

Which is disgusting if you think about it. $100 for tv and internet. Two things that should not be NEEDED, but i could not live without, actually, I could live without the tv pretty easy, as I only watch two or three things. but other then that, I need my internet!!!

btw: currently my webcam is on port 81 can you please confirm it is working? log on with guest and guest.

Also, i have both noip and dyndns. Try mytank.monroviamountain.com or mytank.dyndns.org

Is there a way to create a webaddress with either of those two to automatically pick the port so someone does not have to enter it as mytank.monroviamountain.com:81

    thanks again for your help

If you do log onto my webcam, can you please call me or email me in advance, as I need to see if the little mount I built has enough clearance to allow the cam to spin around freely

    thanks

Hey steve, or scott, onthe graphs i notice, that the time is texas time, is there a way to have it set to pst??

    thanks

    bill

also, is there anything I can read or goto to learn about how to use the widget or xml stuff, I guess to build my own application and or website/webpage? I got the time to learn, just seems that some of the samples or things I saw are not that clear or as easy as I thought they would be. maybe you have some personal favorite to share with me...

Hopefully you know I am not totally ignorant of this stuff, and probably learned a bit having gone through the bs I went through with earthlink...

so any tips or directions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, (aned I mean that). If there was a way to pay for membership to this site or to make donations to your efforts I would, please let me know how to do that, and or your PP acct,, and I will be more then happy to show you how much I appreciate your effort and attempts.

Bill, I will defer to Scott on the time issue as I am not sure there is anything he can do. As to the Widget. You need to install the Yahoo! Widget Engine (http://widgets.yahoo.com) then download widget from ReefChat to the My Widgets folder on your machine. The instructions for its use and setup are on the widget page (http://www.reefchat.org/Extras/Stat...fault.aspx">Located here).

As to the XML questions, well I would love to say I could help you out but I am by no means an expert. In fact I only recently started messing with it again myself. Two sites come to mind on the subject

    http://www.w3schools.com/xml/ and http://www.xmlfiles.com

Lastly, I appreciate your kind offer but it is not necessary. While ReefChat has a paypal account, we currently are not accepting donations. I will say that it has been and is being considers and you could possibly see a donation button in the future.

I use webhop, a dyndns service that allows you to associate an IP address with a URL.

Here is an example of my setup:

So after i create a dynamic IP account (robsreef.hobby-site.com for IP 65.10.10.25) I can then redirect the original sitename of robsreef.hobby-site.com to the IP address and port. The end result is robsreef.hobby-site.org takes me directly to the device at robsreef.hobby-site.com:8080 (http://65.10.10.25:8080).

Like i mentioned earlier there are several ways to link everything together. I use to have this go to my webserver, but right now it is going straight to the AC. Once i get my webcam hooked back up, i will either create a webhop (robsreef.hobby-site.org and robsreef.hobby-site.net) for each device or link to them through my free blog site.

I would but i can't even keep my site going. I finally decided to go light and use a free blog service called reefspace. It is basically a myspace for the reef community. Its very easy to get a collection of links, news feeds, movies, pics, ect...

Bill, I added timezone offset to the sig add and edit pages. I changed yours to be PST, your graphs should start being right within 24 hours. You'll notice a small blip in today's data, there was no way around that.

Scott, your the man.  I could not imagine building a software program and or OS and having all the bug and tweaks needed and offerd by everyone and figuring out what to address what not to address and how...

Thanks for the update, it looks good.
