I am curious as to how others maintain their calcium levels. If you use a method not listed please post below.

I have a Ca+ reactor, but I'm also going to start dripping Kalk to help offset the pH swing at night when the lights are off and it will allow me to not run the reactor as hard to maintain my levels.

I use a triple head Aquamedic dosing pump. One head for each of Randy Holmes Farley's DIY recipe for alk, calcium, magnesium supplemets. Works fantastic and I no longer have chronic low pH from using a calcium reactor.

Am I the only one who has a problem keeping RHF's Alk part completely dissolved?

When I first mixed it I got a foam head on the surface that nearly went away. So for the most part it is dissoving completely. Are you baking the soda at 350F for one hour and warming the water before you mix it?

Yup, 350 for at least an hour, and then I wrap a heating pad around the bottle to warm it.. before I can finish adding the baking soda, it's forming a brick on the bottom.

Hmmm... what kind of baking soda are you using? It shouldn't do that. Perhaps if you post about it on Randy's Chemistry forum on RC he could have an explanation or solution for you.
