 | | 02-21-2007 5:07 PM | | How 'bout pagination for long threads? 5y5tem 0verload's build log thread is pretty long, shouldn't there be a page break at some point?
Not the end of the world if it doesn't automatically break long threads down, but figured I'd mention it...

Thanks...

 | | 02-24-2007 5:30 AM | | Brian it is a balanceing act that I am trying to get working in a way that is acceptable. Here is the deal. There is an option to show users online (Front page and here on the forum (They are tied together)). There is a scheduled job that runs every minute to purge the usersonline. This keeps the info up to date. No issue there. Here is where the problem comes in. There is another setting that is used to set the length of time for the Users Online Buffer. Now by default this is set to 30 minutes. I had bumped this up to about 4 hours. Which seemed to be okay, with one caveat. If a user logged in for 30 seconds, their online status would remain in the buffer for 4 hours. This is the reason we were seeing 100's users online the other morning. (However the logs did not reflect that kind of traffic)
Bottom line I am working on it, because I do want it fixed. In the meantime I have set it back to 4 hours. Lets see how that works. | | | |

If I'm being a pain just feel free to tell me to shut up, but since you've asked for feedback, I'm trying to give ya' all I can... | | Brian 150G Oceanic RR up since 9/2000 2x10G display refuguims 55G display refuguim 20G Anemone tank 2x50g Anemone Prop System

 | | 02-24-2007 8:11 AM | | Okay I figured it out. Or found the solution. It seems there is a security update in .Net 2.0 that changed how persistent cookies are set. I have made a change that should allow for a user to remain logged in for seven days. Then they will have to login again. I could extend it further, but a week seems reasonable to me. | | ReefChat Staff

 | | 03-11-2007 4:15 PM | | Well I can change that in a heart beat. You have to post three word responses to every thread to increase you post count. I think Glenn is headed for Marc's numbers. | | | |
