hi all i seem to be getting a lot of red slime in my sump i have a 130 gal sump i was running a uv light for a while but my coraling was not takeing off so i turned it off might that be the problem

Could be the UV was keeping the nutrients down. Cyano is a bacteria that can spread. Usually it is due to an over abundance of nutrients or can be controlled by reducing the nutrients in the tank.

I had a Cyano problem in my tank and I used a product called ChemClean. It worked great, got rid of all the Cyano in just a few days. Haven't had a problem since. And my corals weren't affected by the ChemClean at all.

I am going thru the same thing. I increased my skimming to a wetter output and it has slowed the spread. I also increased the flow on the trouble areas.

what do you have for a clean up crew? Add about 100-200 snails.... and check your phosphates.... do not over feed and turn off return when feeding...

Nothing will eat Cyano, the best way to keep it at bay is to up the flow & reduce nutrients. Chemi Clean works but it is just a band aid fix for the problem. Also, manually remove as much as possible by hand before doing anything first!!
